Mmmm . . . Sloane

Last night English David and I went to see a preview of Joe Orton's Entertaining Mr. Sloane with Alec Baldwin, Chris Carmack, Richard Easton and Jan Maxwell.

Really good, and not just because Carmack is beautiful. The cast was phenomenal, the sets were great, and even though the play is 40 years old, it isn't creaky.

A pet peeve of mine is people who applaud when someone famous makes their entrance. Yes, Alec Baldwin is well-known. But for god's sake, all he did was walk through a door. Save it for the end.

At least Alec didn't applaud for himself when he made his entrance.

I posted a picture of Chris Carmack on my blog once without having any idea who he was.

Woo wee! That's one beautiful man. Not even Alec Baldwin can distract from that.

Crashie...when we were in NYC a couple of years ago, I quietly applauded under the table whenever you walked through a door.

Just thought you oughta know. :)

Think you saw the same perf I did. I was annoyed with the entrance applause too - I thought, save it for when Carmack shows up shirtless in the second act ;)

Palochi: You could tell he wanted to.

Tuna: I was tempted to wait by the stage door and kidnap him, but I figured I'd get in trouble.

Aethlos: I thought you were supposed to throw things at golfers.

God O'Biscuits: Ah . . . you're sweet.

Patrick: Absolutely. Carmack shirtless or in his Tom of Finland drag. Either way, it worked for me.

I so wish I could see it. I love Joe Orton plays. Was Carmack shaved or stubbly (I see there's a difference between the press pictures and the advertisement)?

One of the many nice things about London theatre is no entrance applause and very few standing ovations. Although Bill Irwin in WAOVW totally deserved his the other night.
