Furious

As my mother says, I'm so mad I could spit. Now that my stepmom is safely out of the hurricane's path, my father has decided to ride out the storm. Even if the damn thing shifts further east, the winds will be well above 100 mph. Those are the sustained winds. The gusts will be higher. There will be tornados. The electricity will go out. There will be damage. And he is going to be in the middle of it with no emergency services out there to help him if things go badly.

I am so goddamn angry right now. It's bad enough to be stuck up here and worrying about my house, but at least I thought I wouldn't have to worry about my family.

Ah, shit! I hope he'll be okay! I went through this last year with my entire family when one of those hurricanes hit
Florida. My parents live in Palm Beach and my sister and her family lived in Grant, FL and they were all hit by the same 'cane. I was out here in AZ making several calls a day to my 'rents (they had phone service) but no one could get a hold of my sister for 3 days and we later found out that the house they were in was hit by 3 tornados! Not a pleasant time at all

I know you don't want to hear the "if you can't change it, try and make peace with it" argument, but in this case it may be your only choice, unless you really enjoy ulcers. I'm sure it won't help the worry, though. Hoping all works out well.

Whatever you want to call it, he made his own decision. Have faith, have hope... Whatever happens, your dad will be ok.

Parents can be so stubborn! As the others have said though - have faith. Hope, not fear. I'll say an extra prayer for him, and your friends.

I'm directing my thoughts your way - I hope that both family and property come out of this untouched.
